eSuperfund Review: Is It Right for Your SMSF?
Details about eSuperfund's offer in this article were checked against their own published materials as at 4 October 2026. Providers change their pricing and services, so confirm the current position with them directly before deciding.
Who eSuperfund is
eSuperfund is one of Australia's largest and longest running SMSF administration providers. By their own account they have helped thousands of SMSF investors establish and administer their funds since 2006, which gives a sense of their scale and track record.
What eSuperfund offers
Their core offer is a low-cost, high-volume model: free SMSF setup, a free first year of administration, then an ongoing annual fee from year two. It is a genuinely attractive entry point for someone establishing a straightforward new fund who wants the lowest possible upfront cost.
What to check before choosing them
They do not currently accept existing SMSFs switching in. eSuperfund has been set up for establishing new funds rather than taking on a fund already administered elsewhere. As at October 2026 their own site lists an existing SMSF service as coming soon and invites trustees to register their interest, so this may change. If you already have an SMSF and are looking to move to a better value or better service provider, check where this currently stands rather than counting on it.
The ongoing fee after the free first year is a genuine cost to budget for. Like any free-first-year offer, the real long-term cost is the ongoing fee, not the introductory one.
Who eSuperfund suits
If you are establishing a brand-new, straightforward SMSF, want the lowest possible entry cost, and are comfortable with a lower-touch, high-volume service model, eSuperfund's scale and track record are genuinely worth considering.
Who it does not suit
If you already have an SMSF and want to switch administrators today, eSuperfund is not currently set up to take it on. If your fund holds property, more complex investments, or you want more responsive, hands-on service as your fund grows in complexity, weigh that trade-off carefully against what you are actually paying for.
